Our family was born and raised in Montgomery County. My father was Ben R. Christian of Coffeen and my mother was Ruth Stevenson of Nokomis. We moved from Nokomis in 1943 to Alton, Illinois, where our parents lived until they died several years ago. My father's grandmother Brown is buried in the old Brown Cemetary on New Cemetary Road in Coffeen and her history records her speaking to Abe Lincoln many Sunday evenings from her porch as he road by on his way to Vandalia, the then capital of Illinois. My brother Jack, 81, and I visited this graveside 10 days agao and were delighted the way the Historical Society had beautified a previously unkempt cemetary. I live in Ashburn, Virginia, and will be 78 in November. Both Jack and I have many photos from the early 1900s which we might share with you since we both live nearby in the Washington DC area, and are retired. If you have an interest please contact me by phone at 703-723 7356 or by E Mail at lchristian@att.net. Thank you. Lynn Christian
