Services for Fern Bockewitz, of Raymond, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday in the Raymond Methodist Church with the Rev. Kent Lolling officiating. Burial will be in Asbury Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Hough Funeral Home, Raymond. The family suggests memorials bedirected to the Raymond Methodist Church or theAmerican Cancer Society. Mrs. Bockewitz died at 2:43 p.m. Monday, July 27, 1998, in her home. She was 94 years old on February 23. She was instrumental in forming the Raymond communities Fourth of July celebration along with the late Elmer Carriker. Active in the Raymond Methodist Church, she served on many of its committes. She was an avid organist, Sunday School teacher for many years and a member of the Mizpah class. During World War II, she always took all the cheerleaders to all of the high school games. She was born in Hammond, a daughter of Elbert H. and Ella S. Smith Brown. She married Ned O. Bockewitz on February 23, 1922, in St. Louis. He died September 28, 1986. Surviving are daughters, Lolita Johnson of Springfield, Marlene Walker of St. Petersburg, Fla.; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great great grandchildren. Preceding her in death were a son, Ned A. Bockewitz on June 4, 1990; brothers, Robert Brown in 1968, Loren Brown in 1985, Lloyd Brown in 1966 and sisters, Emma Wetz in 1975 and Hazel Gunn in 1989.
