Housewife and homemaker Clara Wilhemina Niemann, 100, of Mt. Olive, died at 12:01 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008, at Heritage Manor in Litchfield.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16, at Immanuel Lutheran Church of Mt. Olive, where Mrs. Niemann was a member. Burial will be at Elmlawn Cemetery, Litchfield. The Rev. Dan Barbey will officiate.
Friends may call Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at Becker & Son Funeral Home, Mt. Olive, and from noon until the time of service at the church.
Mrs. Niemann was born Dec. 17, 1907, at Cahokia Township, daughter of the late Henry and Lydia (Prange) Hartke. She attended Sunnyside School in Cahokia Township. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cahokia Township and was a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church in South Litchfield Township.
She helped her husband on the family farm and enjoyed sewing, baking and playing cards. She was a member of Immanuel Quilters.
Mrs. Niemann married her husband, Alfred Heinrich "Red" Niemann June 2, 1935, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cahokia Township. He died March 24, 1977.
She leaves one daugher, Sarah Jane Repp of Williamsville; a son-in-law, Nelson Miller of Mt. Olive; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were a daughter, Carol Ann Miller on Feb. 11, 2008; and three brothers, Paul, Delbert and Alwin Hartke.
Memorials are suggested to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
