Jack Cress, 82
Jack Cress, 82, of Hillsboro, died at 5:17 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
No services are planned for Mr. Cress, and Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements.
He was born on July 15, 1929, in Hillsboro, a son of the late Willis Orin and Geraldine May (Blizzard) Cress. He married Emma Titsworth on Oct. 13, 1951, in Champaign, and she survives.
A 1948 graduate of Hillsboro High School, he worked for Illinois Consolidated Telephone Company before retiring in 1986. He also owned and operated Cress and White Antenna Service.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, and a life member of Hillsboro Moose Lodge #1377, V.F.W. Post #1306 in Taylor Springs, the Hillsboro Volunteer Fire Department and IBEW Union.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Carl (wife Cheryl) Cress of Hillsboro, Bruce (wife Betty) Cress of Chatham, and Max (companion Kim Everett) Cress of Hillsboro; six grandchildren, Jason Cress, Zack Cress, Mollie Cress, Abby Cress, Melanie Irvine and Adam Cress; and two great-grandchildren, Chloe Irvine and Emily Irvine.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Joe Cress; and a sister, Jeanne Tingley.
