Roger Stock, 84
Roger Ivan Stock, 84, of Litchfield died at 9:18 a.m. on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 30, at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, July 1, at the funeral home with the Rev. Bob Zirkelbach, pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Litchfield, officiating.
Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield.
Mr. Stock was born in Troy on May 27, 1928, the son of the late Robert Phillip and Nola Nancy (Anderson) Stock. He married Shirley May Burgess at Troy Methodist Church on Oct. 1, 1949, and she survives.
He graduated from McCray-Dewey High School in Troy in 1946. He was employed as a printer at the Alton Telegraph for 25 years until he retired in 1990. Prior to that, he worked as a printer at The Troy Call News and for the Edwardsville Intelligencer as both a printer and typesetter.
Mr. Stock was a member of the First Baptist Church of Troy and the Typographical Union. In his leisure time, he enjoyed doing puzzles and spending time landscaping his lawn.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Phyllis L. (husband Donald) White of Frankfort, Pamela S. (husband Steven) Herman of Tucson, AZ, and Patrice L. (husband Robert) Corso of Litchfield; seven grandchildren, Donna (husband Shawn) Hogel of Oak Forest, Phillip (wife Erin Laudent) White of Frankfort, Kristina (husband Zane) Swenson, Michael (wife Olivia) Herman and Heather (husband Heath) Gregory, all of Tucson, AZ, and Zoe and John Corso of Litchfield; and seven great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, Mr. Stock was preceded in death by two brothers, Orlo Stock and Marvin Stock, who died during World War II; and one sister, Roberta Stock.
