John Ingle, 86
John Verdell Ingle, 86, of Litchfield died at 1:54 p.m. on Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 29, at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 30, at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield with the Rev. Ryan Ritzmann officiating.
Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield.
Mr. Ingle was born in Litchfield on Feb. 5, 1926, the son of the late John A. and Thelma (Wheeler) Ingle. He married Naomi Orie Rentz at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield on July 19, 1947, and she preceded him in death on July 8, 1999.
He graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1944. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and had served in the South Pacific during World War II.
Mr. Ingle was a master plumber and worked out of Plumbers and Pipefitter's Local #137 in Springfield for 43 years. He served as superintendent for the plumbing project at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield and what was the Forum 30 building, now the Hilton, in Springfield, as well as the Prairie Capitol Convention Center.
He was a member of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield, where he had served on the planning committee for the new church. He was also a member of American Legion Post #436 in Litchfield.
Mr. Ingle was a model airplane enthusiast who enjoyed traveling to Europe and North America. He was especially focused on his grandchildren.
He is survived by one son, Dana Ingle of Menasha, WI; and two grandchildren, Katherine Ann Ingle of Milwaukee, WI, and Jacob S. Ingle of Portland, OR.
