Lewis H. Thomas House – Bois D’Arc Township
Fire destroyed his first wooden home in Bois D'Arc Township and his second home of brick was built in 1888. This mansion had a cistern in the attic which supplied the two story home and the basement with water. It also had a apiary in the attic with the bees passing through the walls of the house by means of pipes.
Mr. Thomas was known as agriculturist, stock raiser, farmer and speculator.
The Thomas house was listed on the National Register Dec. 7, 1983.
