Daniel KIRKLAND, the second son, married Elizabeth HARRIS in 1839 and they have three living children.

Robert, who is an old bachelor, still lives with his parents south east of Walshville.  Elizabeth Ellen who married Joseph EVANS has three girls – Amanda,  Jane, and Catherine.  Catherine married George COMPTON, a grand-son of William CANNON.  They have three children.

Daniel KIRKLAND still lives near the homestead and is a worthy son of a worthy sire.

John the third son of Robert KIRKLAND married Polly Ann LINDLEY in 1839; they raised six children.  Jane married Wesley TRUESDAY and they emigrated to Howell County, Missouri where they have nine children – all living with their parents.  Robert died while crossing the Gulf of Mexico in 1861 or 1863.  William married a daughter of Caleb GARRISON and they reside in Pleasant Prairie in Bond County and have four children.  Mary Ellen married Ira FILES and they have two living children and reside a short distance from their parents but across the county line in Bond County.  Martha married John Driskell and they have three living children and reside in Bond County.  John, the youngest, married a daughter of Owen MCVEY a few months ago.

Elizabeth, the fourth child of Robert KIRKLAND, married John FOGLEMAN in 1840; they reside between Walshville and Litchfield, and have four living children out of ten: Daniel M., Israel P., Mary E., and Francis M.

Daniel M. FOGLEMAN married Elizabeth Martha MCPHAIL who died in 1872 leaving three children: Lewis Putnam, Charles Emery and John Milton, all living with their grandpa FOLGEMAN.

Israel P. FOGLEMAN married Mary Melvina MCPHAIL, sister of the wife of Daniel M.  They have one living child: William M and one died – John W.

Mary E. W. FOGLEMAN married Thomas M. JONES, a grandson of Alexander McWILLIAMS.  They live near Litchfield and have two small children: John Charleton and Louisa Ruth.  Francis M. FOGLEMAN, a 16 year old baby lives at home with his parents.

John FOGLEMAN, her husband, held the office of sheriff of our county.  He was a son of Melcher FOGLEMAN.

Nancy KIRKLAND the fifth child died at the KIRKLAND Grove when only about 13 years of age.

Stephen Berry KIRKLAND, the sixth child of Robert KIRKLAND, married Nancy CAROTHERS.  She died a few years after marriage, leaving four children: John, Mary E., Sinai M., and Emma.  He still lives in the vicinity of the homestead southeast of Walshville.  Of the four children only John is unmarried.

Mary E. Married Robert OVERSTREET; she died a few months after marriage.

Sinai M is sill unmarried.

Emma married William OVERSTREET and lives in Bond County.

Stephen KIRKLAND afterwards married Miss Mary TISDELL, and they have three children all at home: Robert Ichabod, Daniel W., and Charles FOGLEMAN.

Jane Catherine, the seventh child of Robert KIRKLAND, married John MCPHAIL and they have seven living children: Martha Adaline, Robert S., Daniel H., James, Ellen, Stephen A. Douglas and Eliza D of whom Martha A married William ADAMS and has one living child – Wm. M.  The rest of Jane Catherine’s children we believe are not married.  They live one mile northwest of Walshville.

Martha Adaline KIRKLAND, the eight child married James MCPHAIL a brother of John.  She died in 1856 leaving four children: Nancy E., Rosella J., Alonzo and Martha.  Of whom Nancy E. married Thomas BARLOW, a son of the late Rev. Jos. BARLOW.  They have two children, Charles and Jane, and we think reside in Walshville.
