Hello,

I am researching a Samuel Hendrickson, born in 1813 in New Jersey.  Was in Ohio in the 1830s-1850 and moved to Montgomery County, IL in 1857 with family.  He was married to Zipporah Ann Hickman and had the following children:  Zipporah, William H., Julia Ann, Catherine, George, and Gideon.  I am a direct descendent of Gideon.  They were farmers by trade.

I know he died near Raymond IL on Aug 17, 1887 and is buried in Raymond City cemetery.  I have some family bible records that his father was Gideon Hendrickson (1785-1872) of Sommerset Co., NJ.

I know obituaries are rare and usually have little information for someone who died in 1887, but could anyone recommend a local newspaper that was published at this time that may of published his obituary.

Thank you for your time and the info hunt continues....

Jeff - I remember coming across his grave at Raymond City Cemetery - here is a link http://history.montgomeryco.com/Def...&tabid=981 Also came across many Hendricksons at Asbury Cemetery, also in Raymond. For some reason all the grave marker photos for Asbury Cemetery are missing from the site right now...I will get with Jeff and see if we can get them back. You can find them on findagrave.com as well. http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/f...endrickson Also, I have mapped out the original land purchases for Zanesville and I am happy to send you a copy of the map (excel format) if you provide an email address. Kinda fun to see where your ancestors lived and often helps locate other family in the area as well.

Hi Ann, thank you for the response. I plan on making the trip over there to visit his grave site soon. Majority of the Hendricksons are related to Samuel, and there were several of them. Was able to see the grave photos on this web site, amazing. Would love to see the land purchases map you have. I know they were farmers and owned land in the area. My email is jabradley69@gmail.com

Thank you again and happy new year!

Jeff
