    Irving actually began in the early part of the nineteenth century. After Illinois was admitted into the Union in 1818 more settlers began moving into its fertile prairies in greater numbers. The pioneers came from the Carolinas, Tennessee and Kentucky and traveled by covered wagons and on horseback.

    These octogenarians all live in Irving and they had this group picture of themselves made recently, just to prove that residents of Irving live a long time. While they are now counted among the elderly residents of Irving, all have done their bit in the past, for their home community and those about them.
