Carole M. Krummel
Thanks for the picture of Amelia's gravestone, Jeffery. Odd that no one put a date on it, but then there may not have been any family left by the time she died. Carole

 | Jeffrey B. Dunn Thanks for sending us the Krummel funeral home records. These are very useful since many of the stones before 1900 are now missing. The photos are online here: http://history.montgomeryco.com/Arc...fault.aspx We will get these transcribed and add another database of the names. I'll get the scrapbook online soon. - Jeff about 7 months ago | | |

Carole M. Krummel If a child started first grade at Donnellson School in 1943, how many grades would he have attended there before moving on to Hillsboro? Did Donnellson have a junior high? And at that time in the 1940s, did they still have more than one grade in a class room? Thanks, Carole Krummel

Carole M. Krummel Are there city directories for Hillsboro for the years 1862-1872? I'm trying to locate a Henry Burgfield/Bergfeldt and wife Amelia. They married in 1862 and were supposed to be living in Hillsboro in 1871-72. Amelia's maiden name may have been Harstrick.
Thank you. Carole Krummel

Carol HounsellI found Henry's name spelled a couple of different ways. Marriage cert shows Henry Burgfield married Amelia F. Harstrick July 20, 1862. 1870 census shows them living in Hillsboro as Henry Borgfelt. Actually I think her maiden name should have been spelled Haarstick. Go figure
Carol HounsellHenry enlisted in the Union army in Hillsboro on April 19 1861 named spelled Borgfeldt - mustered out July 26, 1861 - he was a barber
Carole M. KrummelThank you, Carol! This Amelia was a half-sister of my husband's grandmother and I've had a hard time finding any information on her. I wonder what happened to Henry? Amelia was married a second time, to a Henry Blum. I last found her as a widow on the 1920 census in Donnellson with her half-sister and husband. There's an Amelia Bloom on the cemetery list here, and though the age is a bit off, that may be her. I don't suppose the marriage certificate mentions her parents? That would be too much good luck. Thank you again for helping me with Amelia - I really appreciate it.
Carol HounsellOk so Henry died July 20 1870 and is buried in Cress Hill Cemetery
Carole M. KrummelThank you, again. Henry died young, and very soon after the census, leaving behind a young widow. Amelia must have married the second time in another county, as I don't find her here in the marriage records. That Amelia Bloom I found is also in Cress Hill, so that may be her. I appreciate your help, Carol.
Carole M. KrummelWell, I've just found Amelia Borgfeldt Blum, also in Cress Hill, but with no dates, just a stone with the name. But at least I've found her. I probably wouldn't without your giving me the correct spelling for Borgfeldt, plus I was looking for Amelia Blum.

Carole M. Krummel I have a funeral register from Frederick W. Krummel’s funeral home in Donnellson. Dates are from Oct. 3, 1887 to March 8, 1913. I would be happy to look up names for anyone who thinks his ancestor may have died and been buried during that time. I expect the alphabetical list might be too long to post here. Carole Krummel

Carole M. Krummel My late husband, John Cary Krummel, is listed as a veteran of the Korean era, which is not correct. He was commissioned in the Navy in May 1959 and retired in July 1979, which puts him in the Vietnam era.

Historical SocietyCarole - The Veterans list we have online came from the Montgomery County Clerks office. The era assigned is determined by the date of enlistment based on their military discharge papers which were registered at the Courthouse. Anyone enlisting between 1/1/1950 and 12/31/1960 is assigned Korea era. Anyone enlisting between 1/1/1961 and 12/31/1981 is assigned Vietnam era.
