  • Kathy Contreras I found an obituary for my great great grandmother, Mary Rebecca Smith in the Montgomery New archives. Date of death is listed at 1 May 1909, but cannot find a death certificate. Any suggestions on where I can find this and her burial site. I have been looking for her in Kentucky and was amazed to find her in Irving, IL.

    • Kathy ContrerasOops, sorry. Smith was her maiden name. Her married name was Pruitt.

    • Ann StoddardKathy, I can't find her death certificate online, but perhaps she is buried at Crabtree Cemetery since both her sons (Marion and Milton) are. I don't have access to a complete reading for Crabtree...perhaps you can visit the cemetery and she might be buried in proximity to her sons. I also suggest you contact the genealogical society as they might have a listing for the cemetery. http://mcgsil.com/ If you take photos of the grave markers it would be great to post them on this site =)

  • Kathy Contreras Does anybody know what cemetery was known at Litchfield Cemetery? I am in town only for a day looking for Elizabeth Stewart's grave listed on this site. She died in 1920.

    • Ann StoddardKathy, K. Elizabeth Stewart died 2/28/1920 aged 68y1m is buried in Block 3 Lot 20 of Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield. Hope you get this in time =)

    • Kathy ContrerasI did verify with the superintendant that K. Elizabeth (Lowery) Lyerla Stewart is buried at Elmwood, but there is no marker for her. Could somebody update the death index to show that she is at Elmwood rather than Litchfield Cemetery? I am going to see if I can get a marker made for her sometime in the future. I think she should have one.

    • Ann StoddardKathy, I'll add her to our listing of Elmwood Cemetery, but unfortunately we can't change the death index because that is an index of the county death records, and her death certificate says Litchfield Cemetery. We can make a note on the record for future researchers.
