 Ann StoddardHi Steve - I visited Cass cemetery a year ago and took photos of all the markers that could be located. The cemetery has been abandoned for many years. It is on private property, but the owners are really friendly and escorted us to the cemetery. The cemetery is really overgrown and extensive clean-up efforts are needed...fallen trees, removal of dense brush,etc. in order to locate any more markers. http://history.montgomeryco.com/gro...arams=1635 The markers I did find are in excellent shape, and the cemetery is well protected so the marker for Jane is probably still there. Hopefully one day we can organize a clean up so we can locate the other graves...
 Norma HitchingsHi Ann - I would happily volunteer to assist with a clean up of the Cass cemetery. I may be able to bring along some other family members to assist with a cleanup. Lydia Hitchings Hankinson and Francis Hitchings, both buried at Cass, are members of my ancestral family. From my research, I believe J. P. Hitchings Jr., a wounded soldier of the Civil War, is also buried at Cass Cemetery. Three or four years ago, I tried to locate this cemetery, with no luck.
Ann StoddardNice to know you would be up for a cemetery clean up! Cass is a hard one to find. We looked one year and had to postpone visiting the cemetery till the next year when we had contacted the land owner. The cemetery was cleaned up 10 years ago, so it is not as bad as most, but it would take a dozen or so people the weekend to make a good dent. I have come across many other Cass descendant as well on findagrave.com. I will contact them and see if they would be interested in a cemetery clean up.
