I made several improvements to the web site over the weekend. Our online members can now easily link photos, death records, marriage records and veteran records to the cemetery pages. If a person has a cemetery page and they also have other county records or photos you can link all these items together. Soon you will be able to link family members together and link census records to the cemetery pages. Here's an example of a cemetery page with a lot of linked records and photos: http://history.montgomeryco.com/Def...&tabid=981 If you have any questions just post a message here.

  • Jeffrey Dunn Added a couple new books to our online library. The history of The House of Sunshine in Litchfield from 1959 and an Inventory of our Courthouse from 1939. The Inventory book includes a lot of info on our county history. You can download them here: http://history.montgomeryco.com/Arc...fault.aspx

    • Jeffrey DunnI added the word "Parade" to the title. This is a collection of Oak Grove Cemetery photos. This photo is a parade to the cemetery when they dedicated the soldiers and sailors monument at the entrance to the cemetery.

  • Rebecca Buck Jeffrey, Thanks for posting the Winkler Family gravestones. He is the great-great-grandfather of my husband and I am trying to learn more about him. Do you know if there is anyway I can access his death certificate or see a copy of his obituary? This website and others only seem to go through 1950 and he died in 1953. I can only find census records for him beginning as early as 1900 and I would love to learn about his parents and who they were. Thanks for any help you can offer. Sincerely, Rebecca Buck

  • Jean Holley Hi Jeffrey, Thanks for posting the photos of the Rouhslange family members. Charles and Katie were my grandparents. Their children were Hilda, Roy, Lula, LaVene and Naomi. Naomi was my mother. Katie left Hillsboro sometime after Charles died in 1925. She sold the farm and they all moved to St. Louis. That is where I was born and raised. Naomi was born in 1918, the youngest by 10 years. Hilda was first in 1902. (Lula died of pernicious anemia when she was two.) It is Naomi with an "i" like in the Bible (the story of Naomi and Ruth). Anyway, I just thought I would add this as a correction. No big deal, just whenever. I don't know if I will get back to Hillsboro again. I was there two years ago, but I didn't have the time to go visit the cemetery. It is great to see the pictures and know the cemetery is doing a nice job of preserving them as well. I only have the stories from my aunt, Mom, and uncles of Hillsboro, but they were always told with affection. My great uncle, Billy, had an apple orchard on the farm, next to Charlie and Katie's, that was well known in Hillsboro at the time. Lizzie Huber, his daughter, died at age 101, last year. She is also buried in St. Agnes Cemetery. Thanks again. I sincerely appreciate your efforts. I have done a lot of research on the family tree. Jean Holley

    • Jeffrey DunnI'll add these things to my to do list. I'm trying to get a newspaper database online. I have 200 - 300 hours of work left to do on it. Once this is online I will go through and start making corrections. I've got about 200 things people want corrected. This newspaper database has to come first.
