  • Susan Lake There is an error on the listing for Mary Constance (Connie) Brown. Her second husband's name is Gordon rather than George as listed. Thanks.

  • pam Smith Linda, I am interested in William Cannon, the husband of Catherine Loving. You list his father as Thomas Cannon. I believe this is correct. I was wondering how you came to that conclusion. I have an article from the newspaper but DAR won't accept this as proof. Can I ask how you know Thomas was William's father? Do you have a photo of the grave?

  • Timothy Williams FYI, the John B Williams @ Irving's McCord Cemetery may not be the Civil War Vet. John B Williams @ Hillsboro's Oak Grove Cemetery has a headstone with the Civil War service inscribed upon it. Both share same year of birth & death. Hope this helps. I appreciate what you do.

    • Jeffrey B. DunnI check this in the 1956 Roll of Honor. The book shows John B. Williams is listed in both cemeteries at plot 343 grave 6. I know the info is correct for the Oak Grove listing since he is in plot 343 grave 6. The listing in the book for McCord is wrong. http://history.montgomeryco.com/Def...;tabid=981

    • Linda Barricklow-CollinsThere is a stone for John at McCord Cemetery. It's along the north fence and is shared with his wife, Sarah Bostick. The stone has his Civil War info listed on one side. Go to Find A Grave and see a picture of the stone that I took in Nov 2009. Is his wife also listed at Oak Grove?

    • Linda Barricklow-CollinsI also have a picture of the gravestone (at McCord) on the Historical Society website. But all sides of the stone is on Find A Grave. It's a large stone about 4 ft high.

  • Brenda Rogers I noticed that you are listed as a source of info on photos or information on the King Cemetery listing. I'm wondering if you have someone buried there, or just a historical info collector? I see the Cemetery is listed as not active, which is not true, and at one point saw it listed in the Forgotten Cemeteries list, which is also an error.

    • Jeffrey B. DunnThe Forgotten Cemeteries is a booklet by Walter Sanders. You can download it here: http://history.montgomeryco.com/Arc...fault.aspx King Cemetery is included in this booklet. I'll update the cemetery as active.

    • Linda Barricklow-CollinsMy husband's g-g-g and g-g-grandparents are buried at King Cemetery. Yes, we know that it is active. Cousins have been buried there recently. I believe Jeff has the errors corrected now

    • Ann StoddardFrom doing research on Sanders and his high school genealogical projects, it appears the Forgotten Cemeteries listing was an attempt to highlight the earliest burials in the county, specifically focusing on finding Rev. War soldiers graves. Most the cemeteries listed were at that time (the 1940's) considered forgotten, in that the evolving rural landscape had left them in out of the way remote places. Sanders project was so successful with his students that they continued visiting cemeteries, and after several years complied 5 large volumes of information...mostly documenting burials before 1900. Most the cemeteries included in the original Forgotten Cemeteries listing were then and now are abandoned and/or inactive, however a few escaped this fate...King being one of them. It would be interesting to know if the attention brought to these cemeteries because of the Sanders projects had any impact on some of them not being forgotten and today still being active cemeteries.

  • Tammy White Hi Linda. I think we have conversed back and forth through email. I am Tammy Elzy White and I am researching Wright, Nelson, Whitten, Casey, and Bost. I found a picture that you had on the Historical Society of Montgomery County, IL site. It is of John Thomas Wright and Mary Pearl Barricklow. I wondered if I could get a copy of that picture for my family tree? I am related through Camelia Wright, who married my g-g-grandfather, Robert Nelson.
