Donald Cress
Charity Duckett was the wife of Eliljah Whitten. The Ducketts were an old and noble family in England and are descended from William the Conqueror. Since William the Conqueror had the good sense to marry well, those descended from Charity Duckett are also descended from Charlemagne and King Alfred the Great!

Donald Cress I am looking into the history of the following families: Cress, Bost and Sanders. I am particularly interested in gathering information on John Israel Bost (1845-1929).

Ann StoddardJohn I Bost is buried at Bost Hill Cemetery. Here is a link to his cemetery record page. http://history.montgomeryco.com/Def...;tabid=981 I added links to the 1870 1880 1900 1910 1920 census records as well as parents and two marriages...hope this gets you started. Lots of other Bost burials at Bost Hill Cemetery. I would reach out to Dan Darling on this site...I don't know if he read the cemetery or is related but he has Bost information posted on this site and at ancestry.com
Donald CressMs. Stoddard, thank you for the information. I visited Hillsboro and Fillmore a few weeks ago, and I saw the grave of John I. Bost, but your picture is much better than mine. Thank you for your response.
Donald CressMs. Stoddard, at the risk of turning Fillmore into a Peyton Place, John I. Bost, my great grandfather was actually married THREE times. First to Elizabeth Ann Sanders (who died in the late 1880s), then to Mary Jane Bost (in the early 1890s, later divorced), and then to Mary Arnold (in 1904, later divorced). Mary Jane was the daughter of Moses Cress and Eliza Clementine Cress (Smith). She first married Henry Cyrus Bost in the early 1870s, divorced him a couple of years later; right around the time of the divorce Mary Jane had a daughter. Her second husband was John I. Bost, whom she divorced. Then she remarried Henry Cyrus Bost, and they remained married until his death. Then she married someone else, whose name I can't recall. Anyway Mary Jane is buried with her siblings at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro, and her stone reads Mary Jane Bost.
Donald CressThe census records are tricky when it comes to John I. Bost. If the 1900, 1910 and 1920 census records are taken at face value, there would be a case to be made that John I. Bost was married SIX times. Fortunately, my research at the Montgomery County Courthouse could not confirm that he had been married more than three times. Thank God for small favors!!
